At Lothian Building Supplies we’re proud to be a local business and even more proud to be supported by local people. But when it comes to our local community, we like to go above and beyond what we do in-store or online – we love to ‘give back’.
We are always on the lookout for new worthwhile local causes where we can assist. In this article, we’d like to share just a few of the examples of us working with the community over the years
We hope you enjoy reading about our giving back activities. And you never know, you’ll maybe spot a familiar face in one of the photos.
Supporting Co-op Funeral Care’s Selection Box Christmas delivery
On 24th December, Co-op Funeral Care, Tranent took to the road to deliver selection boxes to local care homes, community hospitals, day centres and lunch clubs. We really admire this sort of work, which is why the team at Lothian Building Supplies decided to take part in this seasonal gesture of goodwill for local people by donating selection boxes. From our point of view, anything we can do to help local people is time and money well spent – especially at Christmas.
Helping Colinton Village Enterprise SCIO with their projects
In the run-up to Christmas, Colinton Village Enterprise SCIO had some DIY/maintenance work to do, as well as the job of making the grounds of St Cuthbert’s Colinton even more Christmas-y. We helped them by donating the wood for both the Christmas characters and the repairs. Once again, this is a great way for us to extend a helping hand to the local community and support the work they’re doing.
Donating to East Lothian Food Bank
Hunger and needing support to feed your family are year-long challenges for many people in the local community, but at Christmas, it really takes its toll. That’s why we made a donation to the East Lothian Food Bank just ahead of Christmas. While we appreciate that our help isn’t a magic wand, we do know that every little helps.
Assisting Mansfield Sheltered Housing in Musselburgh
In September last year, the courtyard at Mansfield Sheltered Housing in Musselburgh was in need of a bit of a tidy-up, so we saw this as our opportunity to extend the hand of kindness. We made a donation of decorative stones to help cheer up their outside space. It’s great to see the end result and to know that we’ve done something to help in these difficult times.
